How Guy Fieri Grew To Dominate The Food Network

The Food Network has grown to see some incredible faces throughout the years. Still, none have made a home for themselves on the network quite like Guy Fieri. The chef has come a long way over the years, but it’s left many wondering how Guy Fieri grew to dominate the Food Network in the first place.

As well as being the host of ‘Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives, Fieri has become such a beloved character that he’s also a household name. Believe it or not, but there was once a time when he never wanted to be a part of the Food Network. Thankfully, things have come a long way since a decision that could have changed his life.

Friends had to convince Guy Fieri to audition for the Food Network

Amazingly, it seems Guy Fieri wasn’t always so keen on the idea of dominating the Food Network. Instead, it took the chef’s friends convincing him that he was the perfect man for the job. Fieri already had experience with food and in front of the camera, but he wasn’t so sold on competing to be on the reality show ‘Food Network Star’ back in 2006. The star admitted he waited until the last minute to film his audition tape, and even then, he tried to sabotage his own audition. Guy confessed to being as over the top as possible in a bid to ensure no one bought his act.

It seems that what Guy Fieri thought was over the top, the Food Network thought was perfect, as it wasn’t long before the chef won the second season of the show. This was enough to see Fieri give the Food Network his all. Apparently, Guy only believes his friends wanted him to appear on the network to see him fail, with no idea that winning the season would see his career take off like never before. It wasn’t long before Fieri started giving the Food Network his all and was handed a host of shows of his own.

The chef says he’s the same on and off camera

Although he confessed to being over the top in his audition tape, it seems that Guy Fieri now prides himself on being just that in front of the camera. The TV chef says he never had any kind of coaching on how to be on screen, so he just decided to act like his natural self. Apparently, this can often be quite a surprise to people he meets for the first time, as Guy admits most people think he puts on an act for his TV shows. It’s also the reason that so many people have fallen for Fieri throughout the years.

Things have come a long way since 2006 when Guy Fieri first appeared on the Food Network. In fact, some would now consider him to be the face of the entire network. Still, that doesn’t mean that Fieri has forgotten where he comes from. Instead, the TV chef admits he always thinks about the opportunities he’s received from his time on the Food Network and what it’s done for his career. The best bit? Fieri has since been able to use his time on the network to create shows of his own to help up-and-coming stars.

When it comes to how Guy Fieri grew to dominate the Food Network, it seems it was his personality that ultimately landed him the gig - and has helped him score so many fans ever since. It certainly doesn’t look as though he’ll be going anywhere any time soon - not that many people are complaining.
