Freezer-Friendly Desserts To Help With Meal Prep

For anyone with a sweet tooth, dessert is often the best part of a meal. It doesn't matter how delicious the main course was; this dish somehow finds a way to be even better. Something else that we love about dessert is how quick it is to serve up once you're ready for it. Of course, that's assuming it's been prepared in advance.

If you want to enjoy a homemade dessert, you have to put effort into making it. Thankfully, there are tons of freezer-friendly desserts that you can prepare early and store for safekeeping. So, if you want a sweet treat that's ready to go after your main meal, these might be the things worth making.

No-churn ice cream

  • ½ can sweetened condensed milk
  • 600 ml double cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

When it comes to freezable desserts, there's one very obvious option - ice cream. While you can buy this stuff from the store, you could also prepare it yourself. You can even make a batch of this stuff that doesn't require any churning. You simply need to put all of your ingredients into a bowl and beat them until the resulting mixture is thick and relatively stiff. Then, you just have to transfer that to a freezer container, cover it with plastic wrap, and put it in the freezer. It's as easy as that, and you can proceed to enjoy it on its own or with another of these delicious treats.

Chocolate pound cake

  • 7 ounces chopped butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 ¼ cups caster sugar
  • 1 ½ cups self-raising flour
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa
  • ½ teaspoons baking soda
  • ¾ cup icing sugar mixture
  • ¼ cup cocoa powder

Who doesn't love chocolate cake? Thankfully, we know a recipe for one that you can wrap in plastic wrap and foil before freezing for up to three months. To make this, you want to combine your butter, sugar, cocoa, and baking soda in a saucepan with a cup of cold water. Stir the ingredients together for roughly five minutes, at which point the sugar should have dissolved. Then, bring it to a boil, lower the heat, and let it simmer for a few minutes. Afterward, it can cool in a large bowl. 15 minutes later, mix in the eggs and flour until the concoction is pale and smooth. Pour this into a greased pan and bake for over half an hour. As for the frosting, boil your butter and sugar in a pan with two tablespoons of cold water. Then, sift the icing sugar and cocoa into a bowl, gradually stirring in the butter and sugar. Once it's thoroughly mixed together, cover it over and refrigerate for half an hour before spreading it on the cake.

Cherry ice cream cake

  • 1 quart chocolate ice cream
  • 1 quart strawberry ice cream
  • 1 quart vanilla ice cream
  • 1 can cherries
  • 1 ¼ cups crushed chocolate wafer cookies

Cake and ice cream are two of the most beloved desserts in the world. So, why not combine them into the ultimate sweet treat? It may seem like a complicated dessert to make, but it's actually pretty simple. You start by spreading chocolate ice cream across a 10-inch springform pan. Then, take half a cup of your crushed cookies and sprinkle these on the ice cream. Cover the cookies evenly with cherries, then lay your strawberry ice cream on top. Repeat this step again, only without the cherries and swapping the strawberry ice cream for vanilla. Afterward, simply add the remaining cookies to the top and stick your dessert in the freezer.

Four-layer pecan pie

  • 1 refrigerated rolled pie crust
  • 8 ounces softened cream cheese
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 ¼ cup chopped pecans
  • 1 cup corn syrup
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Pecan pie is a beloved dessert, particularly during the later months of the year. To make this sweet treat, you'll want to unroll your refrigerated pie crust and put it in a deep dish pie plate. Ideally, this should be around nine inches. Then, you want to mix your cream cheese in a bowl with one egg and half of your sugar and vanilla extract. If using an electric mixer, beat the ingredients slowly until they're smooth. Then, in a separate bowl, mix the rest of your ingredients except for the pecans. After doing a thorough job, you can spread the mixture from the first bowl on the pie crust. Then, place your pecans on top of that before covering it with your second mixture. All that's left after this is to bake the pie for roughly 45 minutes at 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Once it's cool, you can freeze or refrigerate it for eating later.

Knowing that your dessert is ready for you as soon as you are is a very pleasing thought. So, if you're someone that doesn't like to wait around to please their sweet tooth, these should be the treats for you.
